To qualify for examination entry, candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or GCE Ordinary Level examinations with credit in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematices at not more than two sittings.
As an alternative, candidates must have a minimum of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or its equivalent.
The CIIN will accept, as evidence of stated qualifications, only photocopies of original certificates that have been certified. Certification should be by:
- a member of CIIN's Governing Council, including the Director General; Or
- a Fellow of the Institute who is up-to-date in his/her financial obligations to the Institute or, in case of centres outside Lagos, any two of the following officers: Chairman, Secretary and Education Secretary of the CIIN in any of the Branches.
Such certification is to the effect that both the original and photocopy have been inspected by those concerned, that the original is a genuine document whoch has not been altered or defaced in any way, and that the photocopy is a true and unaltered representation of the original. Uncertified photocopies will not be accepted. The same applies to evidence relating to changes in name (e.g. by marriage) if such names are different from those shown on the certificates.
The requirement is to ensure that those who begin their studies have a reasonable chance of succeeding without hitches.
